As with the previous versions of the game, if you play through to the end with one character, you will unlock a new character. Some of the new characters include Eddy Gordo, the reggae, break dancing fighter and Ling Xiaoyu, a hyperactive martial artist. The game has a great mix of your old favorites like Yoshimitsu (who looks bad-ass), Paul, King and Nina Williams. Let's just say that this is truer than ever. One thing that has always been cool about this series is that the characters all have their own unique style, look and personalities. Speaking of the characters, this game has plenty. This was a pretty cool addition to the game but remember, it is only accessible after you finish the game with all of the characters. Also, you can super charge the ball so if your opponent touches it, they will lose some life. ![]() If the ball lands on your side, your life will go down as if being hit. You will play against another character and the object is to keep a ball from landing on your side of the court. The idea of this game is similar to volleyball. The second new mode is called the Tekken Ball mode. Unfortunately, this was easier said than done. They tried to make it 3D so you were supposed to be able to go in and out of the screen. It was really cool playing outside of the traditional fighting arena but the problem was that the maneuvering of your character was difficult to say the least. This was a great idea that just did not quite click (one of the few complaints about the game). You can select your favorite character and see if you can bash your way through four different sections. This is a side-scrolling beat-em-up ala Fighting Force. The first is called the Tekken Force mode. These new additions are what I will talk about because your old favorites are as flawless as ever. All of the standard modes you would expect are here with a couple of new additions. ![]() Namco has done a great job in developing new game modes to keep the fighting genre fresh and this game is no exception. Let's start with the different game modes. ![]() With that in mind, I will try to expand on things a bit more, but be forewarned - you just really have to see and play this game to understand why it is so good. People keep asking me what makes it better that T2 and the only answer I can come up with is that it is just better and you just have to see it and play it to understand. This game is especially hard to review because Tekken 2 was such a good game. Unfortunately I can't get away with saying only this and besides, it really would not do this game justice. Thank you, tip your waitresses, good night. I mean, how much can you say about a fighting game? You try to knock the other guy down before he knocks you down. For those of us who have been around since the beginning, Tekken 3 will not disappoint.įighting games are usually the hardest for me to review. This is the best fighting game released to date so it is time for you to pry the controller out of your hand and go pick it up. If you are one of the two or three PlayStation owners who have not seen, played or at least heard of Tekken, your time has finally come. ![]() ![]() The premier football podcast from The Times, with the finest writers. Florida Birding, Wildlife & Nature Festivals ![]() ![]() Demand for the hottest Timex in recent memory has thankfully cooled. Q Timex GMT 38mm Stainless Steel Watch – $229įull review here. Full review can be found here, and you can see it featured in our double time series here as well as here. You have to play the sale game, but Macy’s and Kohl’s will run codes and promos every so often that drops these watches down to $200 – $225. 100m resistance is plenty, and while the crown doesn’t screw down, it feels incredibly solid. Bracelet is terrific with its comfortable, brushed links (just the edges are polished) which avoids the jangly/overly-intricate/shiny “jewelry” look. The exhibition caseback shows off the hacking, hand-winding, Japanese-made 4R36 movement. It’s easy to read, it feels rugged and well built, and the 42.5mm case brings some tool-watch “presence”… yet should wear great for most. The Seiko 5 Sports dive-style is basically a baby Planet Ocean for a measly 3% of the P.O.’s price. Seiko 5 Sports Dive Style Automatic – $225ish (depending on sales) And all of the little details add up to an impressive package. Nice dial, great hands and indices, and (obviously) an in-house Seiko automatic movement beating inside. Sides of the case are polished but the top facing areas are brushed, which keeps any unnecessary glare and gleam down. The lack of a rotating dive bezel gives it a more subtle, almost field-watch like look. It has a nice wrist presence but should look proportional on most wrists. Diameter is a sporty but not enormous 40mm. Seiko 5 Sports SRPE Gray or Black Dial Automatic – $220ish (depending on sales) This thing should go with all kinds of casual wear, and quickly become a daily partner for those who spend most of their time dressed down. Sticking true to it’s roots, this thing is powered by a hand-wound (mechanical) movement. Timex MK1 Mechanical 36mm Archive Field Watch – $199įull review here. But the matte brown leather band it comes on looks great, feels good, and wears just fine. Also, the strap width is a rare/odd 21mm width, which can make sourcing after market straps a little difficult. Which will fit most wrists just fine, but for those with slimmer wrists or those who prefer more classically sized dress watches, it runs a little big. There’s just one small problem (for some). Maybe the best looking under-$200 dress watch on the market. Looks substantially more expensive than its accessible price point. Orient Bambino V3 “Bauhaus” Automatic – $195įull review here. Not everyone will like the shined up inserts on the bracelet, but it’s more subtle than many other competitors. 120 click bezel helps keep track of elapsed time. Automatic movement that hacks and hand winds. There might not be a better bang-for-the-buck diver on the market. Versatile too, as it can be worn with everything from a t-shirt and shorts, to a suit and dress shoes. ( That was a huge compromise with their cheap-sub imitator.) This one looks clean, classy, and is nice and comfortable to wear. And unlike the previous entry-level go-to ( Invicta’s Sumariner homage) there’s no tacky logo engraved on the side. 200m water resistance, screw down crown, fully brushed bracelet, and an exhibition case-back. Seiko NH35A automatic movement hacks/hand-winds. 40mm diameter is wearable by the vast majority. The new entry-level automatic dive watch standard. ![]() ![]() Invicta Pro Diver 1953 Automatic – $108.99įull review here. ![]() Even the stock rubber strap that it comes on is decent (soft-ish, not rigid plastic). For about $50 you get 200m of water resistance, a stainless steel case, and a rotating bezel which feels much more expensive than many other watches in the under $100 category. Mentioned a lot on this site, and for good reason. The Timex Weekender is light, fun, and does its one job well: It tells the time.Ĭasio 200m Diver in Black, Blue, Green, etc. But if you’re good with that, then it’s a cheap (very cheap) winner. It drives some people absolutely bonkers. Know that the Weekender models are infamous for making a louder than average “TICK” sound with each snap of their seconds hand. 38mm dial diameter with a 20mm strap width. The model that basically re-launched Timex as a more fashionable brand some 15 years ago. Congrats to the grads, and kudos to the dads who didn’t just procreate, but are also working hard to be great fathers. And seeing those seconds physically tick by on your/his wrist might be a good reminder to really appreciate every moment. Dads could use some unplugged time as well. You can go off on your own but know when to be back. Recent grads will probably be hooked to their phones and other various technology for the rest of their life. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() If you could fly anything right now, what would it be? I knew I wanted to serve something greater than myself, I wanted a challenge, and I wanted to have fun doing it. From that moment on, I was determined to become a fighter pilot. It was then that I remembered I wanted to be a fighter pilot. It was the only thing that made sense, and the only thing I knew I wanted to do. Looking back, I find it interesting that I didn’t really know much about being a fighter pilot other than what I saw from watching the movie Top Gun. That is, until my junior year of high school when I needed to decide on what I would do for the rest of my life. My interest in flying sat somewhere in the back of my mind while I played multiple sports growing up. According to her, she said girls couldn’t do that yet, but I only remember her telling me that girls can’t do that at all. My earliest memory of wanting to fly was when I was about five years old I remember watching fighter aircraft in the traffic pattern at the El Toro MCAS (Marine Corp Air Station) and telling my mom that I wanted to do that when I grew up. When did you first know you wanted to be a pilot? In the meantime, Mau agreed to answer a few questions for us. You can watch the lecture on Air and Space Live or request tickets to attend in person. Mau will discuss her journey at the Museum’s GE Aviation Lecture, Views from the Cockpit of the F-35. She doesn’t share that fact boastfully, but rather hopes it inspires young men and women to become fighter pilots. Today, Mau is the first, and remains the only, woman to fly the F-35, one of the Air Force’s newest jets. It’s there she flew combat missions for Operations Southern Watch, Northern Watch, and Enduring Freedom. Mau was also only the third woman assigned to the 492nd Fighter Squadron at RAF Lakenheath in the United Kingdom flying the F-15E Strike Eagle. “So I learned early on that growing thick skin, ignoring those who don’t support you, and persevering was the key to success.” “If I had a good or bad flight, it seemed everyone knew about it,” she said. ![]() But this didn’t mean the young pilot’s career would be free from challenges. Mau recalls being among only a handful of women in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program, which, she remembers made it hard not to stand out. “The Combat Exclusion Law blew my mind as over 50 years prior, the WASP flew every aircraft the Army Air Corps had during WWII,” she said.īy the time she graduated and entered into the United States Air Force, the Combat Exclusion Law had been lifted for aviation positions. Mau began her career at the United States Air Force Academy at a time when women were forbidden to serve in combat positions-a fact that baffled her. And, as a fighter pilot, she has done so with only a small community of female military pilots. Christine Mau has helped prove that women can perform, outstandingly, in some of the toughest positions in the United States Air Force. ![]() ![]() The Western Ranch playsets, which were produced in theĮarly 1950s, included four horse poses and two long horn steer poses.
